The Craft
Painting With Thread
From a distance, David's work is often mistaken for a painting. Look closer and something remarkable happens.
Color, light, shadow, architecture and landscape are created through thousands upon thousands of individual stitches. Using only one or two strands of thread at a time, David slowly builds depth and texture across the canvas.
A typical artwork can require 60-80 hours to complete. Large-scale commissions may require hundreds of hours. No two pieces are ever the same.
The result is not simply an embroidered picture. It is an original work of art created in thread.

Methodology
The Commission Process
Your Story
Every commission begins with a conversation. You may already have a favorite photograph, or you may simply have an idea, property, landscape or memory you would like transformed into art. David will discuss the subject, desired size, setting and emotional qualities you would like the finished artwork to convey.
The Composition
Reference photographs and ideas are developed into a composition designed specifically for the finished embroidery. Elements may be refined, repositioned or simplified to create a stronger work of art. Lighting, atmosphere and color can also be adjusted to create a more dramatic and timeless composition.
The Embroidery
Once the composition is approved, the transformation begins. Working entirely by hand, David builds the artwork stitch by stitch using carefully selected colors and one or two strands of thread at a time. Large works can involve hundreds of hours of meticulous handwork.
The Reveal
The completed embroidery becomes a singular artwork that exists nowhere else. Created for one client. Inspired by one story. Made to be treasured for generations.
Large-Scale & Signature Commissions
For significant residential, hospitality and corporate interiors, David accepts a limited number of large-scale commissions each year. These works can be designed specifically for feature walls, fireplaces, reception areas, tasting rooms, private dining spaces and other prominent architectural settings.
Because each artwork is created entirely by hand, large-scale commissions may require several months to complete. This limitation is part of what makes each commission exceptional. There is no production line. There are no editions. There is only one.
For Interior Designers & Architects
David welcomes collaborations with interior designers, architects and hospitality professionals seeking artwork that cannot be sourced from a conventional gallery or catalog. Artwork can be developed around the architecture, dimensions, color palette and character of a particular interior.
